I didn't receive mine today either, however from reading a forum over at LL it sounds as if there are some real problems with the packaging. Apparently one of the discs ends up getting some of the glue from the packing on it rendering it unlistenable.

During The transition into Ship Of Fools, it sounds like Weir is pushing The Dancing In The Street Reprise -
- Garcia is working On StellaBlue; finally they compromise at Ship Of Fools.

EXCELLENT aud and a sweet show. Is this a different source than the awesome Jerry moore recording? I can't imagine it being better.

Oh boy - now your making me choose. I guess I'll have to randomly sample all three (two Jerry Moore sourced and this one which seems to be different source) and figure out which to go with.

Tough work but someone has to do it.

Too close to call - they are all very good quality recordings.

The original Moore is a bit muddy but also very full sound:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd76-10-01.moore.weiner.14558.sbeok.shnf

The new transfer Moore is very clean but seems to lose some fullness:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1976-10-01.sonyECM33p.moore.berger-tallmadge.84358.flac16

This new source hits a nice balance between clean & full:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1976-10-01.akgd200e.vernon-pujol.10151.sbeok.shnf

So Dl them all, put them all on disc, and keep them in different locations to get 3 slightly different takes on one awesome show.

OK, did a quick comparison at work with moderate volume & pretty good pc speakers (2 regular w/ a small sub). Results on a proper home stereo or headphones will no doubt be different. For my money the new Moore is the best of the three for my office set up. Hope that helps the fellow office stiffs grind out the day.

Big night for me... Oregon State Beavers (Go Beavs!) play the Utah Utes (what in tarnations is a Ute?) and then the VP debate. Game on.

Ha! I think I have five different versions of my beloved 12-29-68! Funny how that works out...though it really matters with that one since that show has a few glitches that folks dealt with differently.

I got it Tuesday, but haven't had time to give it a good listen beyond Ollin Arrageed ( sp?).

I got the Egypt plus road trips and a t shirt package because I was in a wine fueled impulse buy mode at the time. It's a lot of music and I'll need the weekend finishing the tile for my bathroom renovation to listen to it.

Ahem. I think, dear friend, that it was (is?), "Krebs" but only because we old farts were there...

Good old Bob Denver. I still like his next partners better than Dobie (you can take Ginger, I'll take Mary Ann).

Thanks Rasta; yep, Mar 68 is not a month I generally grab in spite of my obsession. Usually it's Jan or Feb, or I jump ahead all the way to June (and of course, Aug, Oct and Dec give me all the trouble I can handle). Nonetheless, a few hidden gems pop up in Mar as they ease from the Jan/Feb sound with SpJam and the "Anthem-esque" feel into the "Live Dead/Aox combo" period later that year...
